Who knew Congressman Ron Paul and Lindsay Lohan see eye-to-eye? Yeah, that Lindsay Lohan. The troubled actress, who just finished up 35 days of house arrest today, celebrated her freedom by… discussing the Federal Reserve on Twitter. You would think it would be more along the lines of, "Hey, can’t wait to get a coffee after being trapped in my house for more than a month." Maybe it’s just me.
She tweeted, "Have you guys seen food and gas prices lately? U.S. $ will soon be worthless if the Fed keeps printing money!"
Turns out the group National Inflation Association sponsored the message. Celebs can make tons of cash with these endorsements.
The troubled starlet defended her tweet spam. She wrote, "I actually do care about gas and food prices, so whether it's an #ad or no, it's important for people to be aware of it."

Lindsay you're right. Let's see, the total debt was $8.2 trillion when Obama took office, it now stands at 14.2 trillion and counting which means Mr. Barry Obama is responsible for about 6 trillion. A 73% total increase in just 2 SHORT YEARS. UNBELIEVABLE !!! Your 4 paragraphs are thoroughly pointless in terms of informational value, which leads me to the same conclusion about this piece as the one I reached after reading the SAME story by The Atlantic: it's little more than a slimy tactic to link wildly popular, respected, intelligent 12-term senator Dr. Ron Paul with a generally disliked pop-icon.
Journalistic integrity has long since become an oxymoron, but you should be ashamed of yourself for encouraging the trend. Complicity in a crime is itself criminal.
The irony of all this is that for thinking people the obvious implication of a million copycat attacks on Dr. Paul is that there is simply too little about him to criticize to provide for a more diverse ecosystem of slander. It's as though you're all throwing darts at a board of concepts.

And don't forget that Bush couldn't go to war without congressional support and I do believe that it was an overwhelming vote of yes from both republicans and democrats.
The fact is both parties are to blame for this economic situation we find ourselves in. Blaming it on one side or the other achieves nothing, just clouds over the issues. If maybe the politicians can get their heads out of the sand and stop worrying about re election and actually work for the American people we could get some positive things done to curb spending(ie get rid of pet projects until we balance the budget)
Nice post, Brian. The politicians are doing a great job right now of continually distracting us with crisis after crisis to further their own agendas and power grabs. One side blames Bush and the wars, while the other blames Obama and wealth redistribution. It only serves to distract and cause fear. No one (well, hardly anyone) takes time to educate themselves and form an opinion. They just suckle from their MSM outlet that panders to their beliefs, and then they spout that out to the world.
Meanwhile, a small percentage of this country works hard, understands economics, has personal responsibility, values freedom, and is well educated. There are people like this who vote democrat and republican. Unfortunately, this sector of the population is the one that gets hosed by both sets of politicians. D's confiscate their wealth and give it to the poor, while R's confiscate the money and send it upwards to bankers and the DOD.

Every time the Republicans got their hands on the economy of this country during the 20th Century, they drove the bus off the side of the road. Every time, no exceptions. They were at the helm for every recession and during the great Depression. They are still calling for the same tired policies-trickle down economics and tax cuts for the rich so they can supossedly make jobs. But over 100 years of failure proves them wrong.
Rich people don't make jobs. Middle class people make jobs by purchasing goods. The Republicans stand against regular Americans and for the rich and corporate interests. Why else would they demand cuts everywhere in the budget EXCEPT ending subsidies to already wealthy coroporations? But the question I want answered is this-why do so many Tea Party supporters, so many of whom are retired or regular folk, stand with people who do not have their economic interest in mind? People who wouldn't let the Tea Party in thr BACK door of the Country Club.
What ever happened to fact check? Has history been eliminated from our schools, or do those that write here about need to take supplements so their memory ranges beyond two weeks. This is not a discussion it is a display lack of the facts.
Both parties need to step up and accept their share of the blame, and all of us need to remember that the President can only do what the Congress allows him to do. No president ever raised taxes, it's not in their authority. Taxes levied in this country are done by Congress and state legislators. Debt is debt, and the current debt lies squarely in the lap of the last several congresses.
People need to study up on history and economics before they go off on their rants of ignorance.

Clinton is responsible for NAFTA. He fraudulently claimed NAFTA was an agreement rather than A TREATY which constitutionally required a two-thirds majority senate vote to pass or be approved. When he couldn't get the necessary votes, Clinton declared victory by calling NAFTA and agreement. There is no definable difference between an agreement and a treaty...
NAFTA grants corporate power over government to all signatories in similar agreements around the world. Bush jammed NAFTA plus and CAFTA through his rubber stamp congress. All of these "trade agreements" serve to destroy the American economy by:
1. Promoting FREE TRADE RATHER THAN FAIR TRADE. All other nations retain their VAT (Value Added Tax), which is an outdated way of promoting fair trade after WWII, when the Marshall Plan served to help rebuild Europe after the devastation of the bombings during the war. European manufacturers were allowed to add that tax in order to compete with U.S. manufactured goods made in factories that hadn't suffered the destruction caused by WWII. Retaining that tax, while the U.S. is the only nation that doesn't have one, places this country at an extreme disadvantage.
2. Each nation has a VAT in varying amounts in their trade agreements, except the U.S. Translation: i.e. China has a 19% VAT. The Chines government credits manufacturers 19% on each item when the item is exported to the U.S. ...decreasing production cost by 19%. Then, an additional 19% is added to the price of the item when sold in the U.S. rendering a 38% profit for manufacturing in
China rather than the U.S.
3. Luring U.S. industry to foreign soil, add the cheap, and sometimes slave labor available and the profit margin is increased again.
4. Prior to NAFTA, security in foreign nations made it too risky for U.S. businesses. Since NAFTA's Chapter 11, Investor-to-State provision grants corporate investors the right to sue national governments for interfering with their right to profit, corporate power over government assures the security that never existed before.
NAFTA remains the single most devastating cause of loss of our industrial base and off-shoring of American jobs.
President Obama promised to make necessary changes to NAFTA, but fails to even mention it when he discusses creating American jobs. Seems to me that would be the best place to start...if he were sincere...
In his book, WITH NO APOLOGIES, Senator Barry Goldwater wrote: "Does it not seem strange to you that these men just happened to be CFR (Council on Foreign Relations) and just happened to be on the Board of Governors of the FEDERAL RESERVE, that absolutely controls the money and interest rates of this great nation ... a privately owned organization ... which has absolutely nothing to do with the United States of America!"
Given that the same mega-corporations, own and profit as major stockholders of the THE FEDERAL RESERVE BANK, it appears to be the perfect set-up for them to control the world, when combined with the power over government they now have thanks to NAFTA.
Since the CFR (Council on Foreign Relations) has promoted the idea of a NEW WORLD ORDER, with a ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT, for at least the last 70 years that it has been in existence, I am grateful for the exposure that Lindsay Lohan will shed on the FEDERAL RESERVE BANK.
Keep in mind that a military coup, once planned by a group of wealthy industrialists was exposed in testimony before congress, by Marine General Smedley Butler, who had been recruited by the group. Their plan consisted of replacing FDR's socialist government with a Facist dictatorship that would protect their interests, in the 1930s. The exposure thwarted the attempt. So we need to be mindful that our democracy is vulnerable. The weakened state of our current economy renders it as vulnerable as it was in the 1930s.
One last fact, Prescott Bush, who was under investigation related to his involvement with Nazi propaganda at the time, father and grandfather to two of our most recent presidents was among that group of industrialists. Smedley Butler and his role in exposing their effort can be researched on the net.

We have higher unemployment and don't forget the people who just gave up looking for jobs that are no longer counted on the unemployment rolls. The national dept is setting records every single day. Spending by Congress is off the charts and the cost of living is going up each day. In 2.5 years, I would hope that any educated individual would know that's enough time to have positive results. You're probably not married or have kids. I don't want my kids strapped with a national dept that can't be paid off. Since you brought of the Black comment, the only black about this administration is the blindfold that you have over your eyes. Learn to keep race out of this discussion. Listen to me, I don't like paying taxes any more than the next guy but without taxes our society would not function. Since I like our society, I don't mind paying taxes to support government services. I will pay my fair share, all I'm asking is that those with more money pay theirs.
