I think President Obama is on the right track. It's easier to increase the speed of the number of troops coming home in the near future than it is to make a big promise now and then have to retract it later. Let's get 10,000 troops home first and observe how this affects the stability in the REGION. I would prefer to avoid the carnage such as we saw against the Hmong Civilians after we left Vietnam. I would LIKE to see 10,000 troops returning PER MONTH for six months with a complete withdrawl in month seven. The war is expensive, but how many troops can you fit on a vehicle bound for home at any one time? We only have so much transport capability anyway. The surge worked, Bin Laudin is dead, but I don't think we should just cut and run.
I totally agree! The logistics of winding this down must be mind-boggling. I trust President Obama absolutely to handle things in a way that is best for the troops and all Americans. While we are at it, how about giving thanks for bringing 100,000 troops out of Iraq? Why isn't anyone giving him a collective high-five for that?
The biggest problem we Americans have: We want it all and we want it now! Consequences and logistics be damned!
Perhaps it is time for us to grow up and realize that temper fits mostly don't end well. Handling this mess intelligently will minimize the ugly consequences later.
Thank you, President Obama, for being smart enough to handle this properly. Thank you for keeping your promises realistic. Thank you for being the adult in the room.
Yes, thank you Mr. President for carrying on exactly the opposite of what you promised during your run for the White House.
You have turned out to be more of a hawk than anyone could have guessed. Thats what happens when campaign promises run into reality of office. Iraq. Afghanistan. Gitmo. Patriot Act and now Libya.
Luckily the press & pundits are able to look at all these things objectively, holding your feet to the fire just like they did with President Bush. As we all know, he did all these things because he was evil and trying to make him and his friends rich, while your motivations are noble.
Get real people and realize these politicians are only different when they are trying to get elected. As long as we play the game of R vs. D., we will continue to get to get cr*p cut from same cloth. Just keep listening to those with whom you agree, that way you will never know if they/you are wrong. Sheeple love being led.
and the beat goes on. nothing changes and it is good to be king..........
ummm you obviously didn't watch the elections then.
Cantor pulls out. the elections will be decided by the ones on the fence. the beat goes on and where are the dems in the fight?
When the President is holding his meetings, and he is getting the information he needs, I am not sitting around that table when the President is talking to everyone involved, when he is getting information from everyone from the boots on the ground, to the experts. And neither is Rachel Maddow and all the other ones who is criticizing this President sitting around that table. War is not fun for anyone, but the President's job to keep Americans safe, which isn't an easy job. You have everyone telling you what to do, how to do it, and then get mad if you don't do it there way. Yes America have been in Afghanistan for ten years. But let us remember Bush took his eye off the ball when he decided to go into Iraq. Afghanistan was the war ignored for years. So the President put the focus back on Afghanistan in 2009. And once again this President has to go in and try to clean up another Bush's mess. But I support the President. I think he is trying to do what is right. I still support this President 100%
