why is it when it comes to nuclear energy waste it's a no brainer that, that can eventually destroy the nation. when it comes to war and the defense budget there is all this soul searching. we are broke. war spending and nation building is destroying the middle as we know it. just like another time if anyone cares to do some research if your too young to remember the 60's and early 70's. war is good for the US if your the kings along the the other corporate nobles.
American Deaths In Afghan
2001-2008 Under Bush 630
2009 - Present Under Obama 1,000
Not an accurate assessment...you need to consider that Bush began to focus the troops on Iraq. How many lives ere lost over there? Well over 630.
"American Deaths In Afghan"
2001-2008 Under Bush 630
2009 - Present Under Obama 1,000
How about if we post the number of American lives lost to preventable diseases due to the lost of insurance and the cost of medical care under Bush and under Obama?
There are numbers worth looking at!
This poll was flawed, did not include a gradual reduction which many of us do support, not just keeping 'troops on ground till stabilized' or immediate withdrawal.
Thanks
You are correct. This poll, like so many others, is rigged to elicit a desired response. I refuse to participate in a vote.
Immediate withdrawal would place a huge portion of our troops in grave danger. They would become inviting targets that our enemy would find irresistible. Gradual withdrawal with strong air support will be our only option to get out for good.
You never walk away from a truce in a gunfight with your back turned. You walk away very slowly with both guns facing your adversary.
ALL MSNBC:
EXAMPLE ED SCHULZ AND LAWRENCE O DONNELL POLLS ARE:
"rigged to elicit a desired response"!!!!!
Ever heard of a 'straw poll'? Plz tell us politicalwatcher, how, exactly is this inexact poll rigged?
Having worked in both Afghanistan and later in Iraq for KBR (U.S. military contractor), maybe I can offer some insight for you readers. While flying from Kandahar to my assigned Forward Operating Base (FOB) by helicopter for about 50 minutes, almost the entire topography show copper deposits. Nearby hills show rich iron deposits. In the Northern provinces I have pictures of an entire mountain bright green with copper oxide--it literally looks like a giant mound of copper ready to scoop up. A deal with Chinese buyer for Afghan copper ore involves building a railroad. This country has so much mineral wealth, Alexander the Great conquered it and built massive forts that still exists today. I have only heard the same report from CNN once, but never again.
In Iraq, you probably have heard about Saddam's oil fields near Kuwait, but did you know the reason Saddam invaded his neighbor was because Kuwaiti oil companies were stealing his oil. Kuwaitis invested in drilling equipment that bore laterally under and across the border sucking Saddam's oil. After many warnings ignored by Kuwait, he invaded. Today his oil infrastructure still exists and pumps oil constantly around the clock to massive supertankers, but our Government still finance many reconstruction projects (like the missing $6.6 billion); issued brand new M-16 (right out of the box); flawlessly built military bases (with paved roads and all); etc. I am not writing this as a partisan issue, just as an American. Ask why are we still in those countries; certainly not what the Government is telling you. Where is all this money going?
We ought to leave Iraq, since we never belonged there in the first place. It would have been better to focus our efforts, resources and military to a single mission rather than spreading out.
Bush and Cheaney invading Iraq has wasted lives and broken our economy.
I think we should stay in Afghanistan till the area is stabilized.
I love my country, my military service men and women, and my President.

I believe history has taught us a thing or two about 'stabilization' in that part of the world ~ perhaps not all have paid attention!
Please don't go there about listing the number of death. If you want to, we can list how many die in Iraq. Both were Bush's wars, if he had done the job and stayed focus on Afghanistan, instead of invading Iraq it might would not have taken us, what nearly ten years to kill Osama bin Laden. And just think over 4000 of our military men and women wouldn't have been kill in Iraq. After all Osama bin Laden wasn't in Iraq, was he?
I am not in favor of wars, I just hope and pray our leaders make the right decisions, and that America is keep safe from terrorists attacks. Killing bin Laden didn't put an end to the terrible people who want to harm Americans. These are not easy decisions, let's just hope and pray they are the right decisions.
We CAN'T go to war w/everyone that wishes us ill!
Still refuse to read all bold-faced posts. Get a life.
?
Wars bankrupting us....just what Osama bin Laden wanted! Wise up, bring all the troops home and all that money going down a stupid rathole. End the Iraq occupation, too. Why can't we spend money on Americans instead of WAR???
We went into that country to get Bin Laden and his men. When we started that war it was not the public's intention to rebuild that state. I believe that, had we caught Bin Laden and his men on that mountain early on in this conflict, we would have withdrawn a long time ago.
The idea of helping the Afghan's form a democratic country is a nice idea, but do to our own corrupt officials and corrupt Afghan officials, that is really just a pipe dream. For instance, drilling deep fresh water wells for the small villagers would have meant so much for the villagers and we could have contracted it out for a relatively small amount of money and it would have been a great gesture of good will but, that is not what we do. What does it cost to train and send just 1 soldier to that country and supply him or her? How many wells could you have drilled with the cost of 1 soldier.
If you want power and co-operation you must receive it from the people. If you want hate and resistance from these people just try dominating them as an invading force.
This is why we can not and will not win. We should just leave, we have already made a mess of it, as usual.
America has NO business in another country's civil war ~ we fought our own ~ we learned our lesson.
The Afghans must do the same!
