Could Bill Clinton's first scandal have survived the same new media scrutiny Anthony Weiner is now facing? We travel back in time to January 27, 1992 in the first ever The Last Word historical re-enactment segment we like to call, "The Media Circus That MSNBC Missed."

I'm neither on the left or right, but I care deeply about how the devisiveness created by Fox and MSNBC continues on a nightly basis to teach viewers, bloggers, and politicians how to hate and distrust "the other side", and how important they seem to believe it is to achieve the cheap satisfaction of a momentary cynical victory, than to actually engage in the more difficult pursuit of thoughtful and constructive discussion of area's of disagreement. So, short of all that, tonight in your latest venture into All Things Mediocre, you have decided we are in need of a "Retro-skit" involving Bill Clintons mis-adventures. A comedy reach that at best, might have elicited a sympathy chuckle at one of your intervention meetings!. I suggest for the next episode of "Retro Hate Hijinx", you go back in time, to find the exact moment when you lost your mind!. MSNBC!, it's not to late!. Thomas Roberts filled in for O'Donnel last Friday and displayed professionalism, dignity, clarity and class!. But don't hold that against him!. Fox!, you can do something right for a change too. Brett Baier does not yet appear to be certifiable, -yet!. Give him a Prime time slot too.
You've got it a wrong. There is no hope for the Fox News people. It's not them who works for the Republicans, it's the Republicans who work to futher the interests of their Australian and Saudi shareholders. Just because Brett and Shep are sort of "fair", they're just the pawns they're keeping over there to say "hey we're fair and balanced". As long as they are run by these people, and hardcore Republican Roger Ailes, this will never change.
As far as MSNBC goes, they certainly have a liberal streak, but they don't stand to gain similarly huge amounts of money and revenue by getting Democrats elected. Actually the majority of people don't even watch either network, so I don't see this as the main factor in the divided nature of the country.
Please stop with the Anthony Weiner coverage all ready. I just don't care about this crap. The country is going to hell in a hand basket and all the media covers is this crap. Lawrence, I have learned a lot watching your show, please get back to what you do best.
Anything to avoid more Palin coverage so nice to have a break from it.
That was some crazy Twilight Zone stuff and I was so confused, kept trying to figure out why they were talking in the present tense and why I did not remember Lawrence having a show back then lol. Excellent idea.
What do you people think you're doing?! Did you all just forget where you work? Did you lose your way and wander into the Fox studio?? This is JUST what the Democrats need right now - a reminder of another Democrat behaving badly. Weiner just wasn't enough, so you had to resurrect THIS???? And did you give any thought whatsover as to how this would affect Hilary Clinton, our Secretary of State who is trying to handle actual present day crises that affect our whole nation? Way to go - you just added an unnecessary distraction and tore a scar wide open. You are all fools. I have been a diehard MSNBC junkie for several years, but now I think you're juvenile, unsophisticated, smarmy, and not serious about what you're supposed to be commenting on. What a monumental disappointment you all are.
Thank you Meg Thompson – you have the last word on that absurd bit on Clinton. I too don't understand the mentality behind it.
The worst part is the total lack of concern for the feelings of the innocent victims of the appalling betrayal by the perpetrators. The Flowers' skit was a waste of air time and showed a lack sensitivity and awareness on the part of O'Donnell. Maddow cringed about it at the hand off to her show.
During the 2008 primaries Hillary Clinton appeared on Meet the Press for a lengthy interview with Tim Russert. Towards the end Russert commented on a part of her book and asked what was the most difficult moment of her life. Secretary Clinton coldly stared at him and said with dignity something like - we all know what it was we all lived through it. She then went on to talk of the peoples' needs. At that moment I lost all respect for Russert and stopped watching his show – his true colors came through – a true “gotcha” moment that didn't work. Maybe O'Donnell needs to betray or be betrayed by a loved one before he understands the pain the entire family is subjected to at the hands of the “public's right to know”. O'Donnell, you have joined the dark side and lost one viewer.
That was weird, but funny. Loved Lawrence saying "there is no way he can survive this".
Larry-O was completely irrelevant then and he remains completely irrelevant now. He somehow feels cheated by history that he couldn't help cover-up for the Clintons like he does for others such as Edwards and Weiner. Don't worry Larry there are still plenty of morally degenerate progressive liberal crooks you cancover-up for "in the now." Keep polishing on Edwards, Weiner, Ted Kennedy's et al legacy's they'll need your revisionist history to keep from being struck from the history books.
If someone were to turn on the t.v. at the very moment that this video was being shown, (not knowing that they do this, "step back into time" thing) they would be so confused ...
Weiner is so over even Yogi Berra is singing.
I think the Gennifer Flowers segment was a complete waste of time, to say nothing of a lack of class. It's enough to have all-Weiner, all the time, but to subject the Clinton family to more of this after all these years (plus, subjecting your viewers of this old, old news) tells me more about "The Last Word" producers than it does about Bill Clinton.
Nice job acting like a frat boy. I thought MSNBC had taste! Are you applying for a job on FOX? Or trying to improve your rep with RUSH? Give it a rest!
