michelle bachmann has said some very stupid things regarding the history of our country, and the constitution. michelle bachmann is putting herself in a position to be challenged when she speaks with authority about things that are WRONG in front of the masses.

The last story I read about this girl was from her hometown news, saying that she was already recieving death threats via her school's offices, and the school itself was getting threats of possible bomb threats. This reporter also didn't publish video or photo of her or her school for these reasons. Lawrence, was putting her on camera really very smart? I agree with the cause, but you really have to way the balance between the importance of "the story" and the possible collateral damage you could bring here. Are you doing to pay for her security detail?
Good luck to her and all my best, but I worry about the consequences. ...like who thought burning a Koran would kill people in Afghanistan and New York City the following day? Just be careful..that's all I'm asking.

O'Donnell, I tried to watch your program thursday evening, and I promise you, you did not make sense. Were you ill, or on drugs? What were you trying to really say. The talk was disturbing as it appeared you were about ready to commit suicide with you look and negative message - I guess. I suggest you get professional help or see a doctor - please. If you count American territories their are 64 states. If you count the ones that vote their are 57. Guam,Peurto Rico, Phillipines ,Virgin Islands, Midway Islands,American Somoa, Wake Island and 6 others but they dont vote because of low population and no representation. No that is not how Israel was formed. In 1948 the British up and left. They did not leave the Jews in charge or give them anything. You have got to be kidding, as a service person I get to watch MSNBC and Fox News shows on Armed Forces Network on the same channel, first Glen Beck and then the Rachel Maddow Show, Bill O'Reilly then Lawrence O'Donnell that is the way AFN is. I have never seen anyone on Lawrence O'Donnell and Rachel Maddow's respective shows that didn't agree with Lawrence or Rachel's position ever treated with any respect what so ever. As someone who has watches both Fox and MSNBC news shows, MSNBC shows are the most slanted and biased shows on TV today. You can put away the MSNBC kool Aid.

The point about the Wisconsin story was that the Republican Senate voted just that day to allow people to get guns without permits. On the same day that this nut job was doing what he was doing. So in a way it wasn't a "false claim". If you don't need a permit to have a gun there will be no need for a background check, now will there?

Clearly you do not know what hate speech is, hate speech incites violence towards a person or group of people because of race, religion, sex, sexual orientation. Calling someone out on the stupidity of the things that they say or do is not hate speech unless there is a call for violence towards that person.
An example would be Bill O's rants about Dr. Tiller, calling him Tiller the baby killer daily and hinting that something should happen to Dr.Tiller. Then when the Dr. was murdered like the coward Bill O is he denied his hate talk about Dr. Tiller leading to his death, even after the Murderer said anti choice speech and Fox news played a part in his actions, Bill O denied it.
Or Sarah Palin calling for voters to put Democratic politicians in their cross hairs or saying its not retreat but reload time. Or Sharon Angle saying if she didn't win with the ballot that it was time for 2nd amendment remedies, those are direct or implied threats of violence and are hate speech.
Now give me an example where O'Donnell has called for the death of a conservative or told viewers that violence was acceptable if liberals didn't get their way. You might disagree with some of what O'Donnell has said, but just because you disagree doesn't mean its hate speech.
I know exactly what hate speech is, but I also know what hate speech is not, I will repeat I have watched BOTH Fox News and MSNBC news daily since Nov 10, I don't know what happened before that and I don't care, I am talking about today, not a year ago. A specific example of O'Donnell's contempt for folks that he doesn't agree was Friday on his show he specifically tried to claim that "Republicans are making it easier for criminally insane folks to get guns" yea whatever, that is a complete lie.
It seems to me you want to believe that "2nd amendment remedies" and "I going to go kick someone's butt" aren't the same, but in my OPINION they are exactly the same, Obama isn't going to beat anyone up and Angle doesn't want anyone killed, it is no different.

What don't you get? Everyone is allowed their opinion up until it breaks the law and goes into hate speech. You do know there are limitations to free speech don't you? Like it isn't free speech to go into a crowed theater and yell fire, that can lead to your arrest for endangering others. It is also not free speech when you threaten your neighbor with death because his dog used your flower garden as a bathroom, that also could lead to your arrest.
Now the term kicking butt has been around so long that it is a figure of speech. When Obama said he was kicking BP's butt he had no intentions of beating up a person and everyone knew that except for you. When Bill O called Dr. Tiller the baby killer and then said someone should put a stop to the Dr., that went past free speech because he was calling for someone to commit an act of violence or hate speech.
Just because you lack the education to see the difference between free speech and hate speech as well as not understanding a figure of speech, doesn't mean you can't voice your opinion but don't try to play victim when you get called out on your BS. And you still have yet to produce anything O'Donnell said that was hate speech.
Holding EVERYONE to the same standard is not cherry picking, you are cherry picking, you overlook bad behavior by O'Donnell, but I didn't hear you coming to Glen Becks defense and asking for evidence, that is odd. No I asked clearly for you to show proof of O'Donnell using hate speech as defined by the hate speech law. You have yet to show one example of hate speech by O'Donnell. We were not talking about his behaviors we were talking about hate speech. The reason I asked you about your reading level is clearly its not very high because you lack comprehension skills required for higher education.
You then claimed the definition of hate speech was opinion, again having a higher level of education would have stopped you from making that statement. Glenn Beck has used hate speech by using speech to incite violence on minorities as well as organizations who help minorities, found all over you tube, so why would I defend him?
An educated person would not have made the mistakes in logic you made. Educated people can plainly see how you tried twisting facts to make a case about O'Donnell using hate speech. If you meant that O'Donnell isn't always nice to his guests I would have said nothing, the same way I said nothing about Ed using hate speech by calling a woman a slut. But again an educated person would have said they didn't like O'Donnell's behavior towards his guest instead of yelling hate speech.

the reason i bring up condaleeza being a lesbian is because of the bigoted comments that have been made here by republicans about gays and lesbians. i have been very curious as to the response regarding condi's homosexuality.
it is very possible, kurt, that W. had no idea that condi is gay. some people are very private about certain parts of their lives, and, as an african american and a woman, she already has two strikes against her as a member of the republican party. some gay people do not feel comfortable "outing" themselves no matter what party they are a member of. it is something that is very personal and private, and i am sure that condi does not want this to become a factor in her professional life, especially considering the stand that the republicans have taken on DADT and gay marriage. in this country there are still many racist and bigoted people who want to control the civil rights that gays and lesbians are allowed, and we have seen plenty of this coming from the republican party in washington. the most recent that i can think of now is from scott walker, gov. of wisconsin wanting to make it more difficult for gays and lesbians to visit their significant other while in the hospital.
i have friends who are gay, one with a degree in chemistry who works in the lab at a big university. she has to keep her homosexuality a secret, because of bigoted comments she has heard AT HER JOB about other gays and lesbians, which have led her to believe that she would be discriminated against, or even fired if they knew.
there are many gays who are republicans in washington, i am sure. surely you can see the stand that the republican party has taken on civil rights regarding the gay population, that it is in condi's best interest to stay in the closet.
as you know, there is an openly gay republican running for president, fred karger. not all gay people feel comfortable sharing this very personal part of their lives, feeling that they are setting themselves up for failure, simply because others cannot accept who they are. karger obviously feels comfortable sharing this about himself, and wants to help move the republicans forward in their acceptance of civil rights for gays. i applaud him for running openly as a gay candidate, but obviously this is something condi either feels she cannot do, or doesn't want to. i understand her reluctance to do so, given her situation.
your view of this is very narrow. there is much more to consider here than just what "appears" to be true. the republican party may have known or suspected that condi is a lesbian, but she is smart and attractive and also was a longtime friend or associate of W. before he became president. it is possible that they knew that this is something that she has tried to keep secret for a long time. they might have felt comfortable with the fact that condi wasn't going to come out of the closet, especially while she held such a powerful position in a republican administration.
there are many things that people keep secret about themselves for different PERSONAL reasons. condi would have to play this out on the world stage. i can understand why she would choose to keep her sexuality a secret.
