the republican party is much more unforgiving of those who do not agree with them than the democrats will ever be. i don't see the democrats trying to keep civil rights from gays, even though they may not agree with their life style. i don't see democrats trying to come between a woman and her doctor if the two of them decide she should have an abortion. even in cases of rape or incest, republicans (palin and bachmann are just two) think the woman should still carry the baby to term. most republicans who want to get involved in this discussion are men who know absolutely NOTHING about a woman's choice to have an abortion, or even about her choice to take birth control.

republicans want to stick their noses into almost everyone's personal business, thus trying to control everything they do.

they want to take civil rights from gays, the very people that some of the republicans (tom foley and larry "wide stance" craig) use for their sexual pleasure. could a republican explain that to me?

democrats are "diverse and tolerant". we have every right to disagree with republicans when they try to take civil rights and health care from those who they think are "less than" (women, gays, the elderly, the disabled, the poor, and children). they want to balance the budget on the backs of those who already have little or nothing, but they want to take more from them, and give it to the rich.

i don't see the democrats working in lockstep like the republicans do. of course, all this may change after the election in the 26th district of new york. when their jobs are at stake, maybe they are beginning to see that working in lockstep might not serve them.

i am not trying to scare anyone-i am just stating facts, facts that you don't have an argument, a defense for, because it is true. republicans think that being gay is a SIN. they think that having an abortion is a SIN. they think that disabled people are faking it to get benefits, and they think that the unemployed are lazy. the republicans think they have it all figured out, and stick their nose in everyone's business. this is "small" gov't? they don't want gov't in THEIR business, just everyone elses.

do some research on the "kill the gays" bill in uganda, and the relationship of the ugandan president to "the family", a cult on C street in Washington DC. CoBurn, Ensign and other republicans, and one or two bluedog democrats stay in the C street house while they are doing the "so-called" work for the american people in washington DC. i can't speak for democrats supporting what the ugandan president is trying to do to gays in uganda, but several republicans supported this bill.

i didn't say anything about exterminating anyone. i am talking about civil rights, the right of people to have choice, which the republicans want to take from the "lesser than". it would be so much easier for everyone if they would just keep their judgemental attitudes to themselves. they want to force their moral values on everyone, when they themselves can't live up to what they want women and gays to abide.

of course, i am not talking about the right to run amuck on wall street, and gamble with other peoples money. wall street has proven before the great depression, and again recently, that they need to be regulated.

Not all Demos are liberal. As a matter of fact Repubs successfully demonized the word liberal so few call themselves that word. They are progressives now. I'm afraid few Repubs are really conservative now as they have twisted that word so much it resembles a pretzel. Both parties have changed over time. Teddy Roosevelt was a Repub who started the National Parks & instituted the 40 hour work week & thought the rich which included himself should give more back to this great country. He would not fit into the Repub party nowadays. The Demos were the party of the intolerant south for many years but after Lyndon Johnson passed the civil rights legislation southern politicians opposed the south switched to the Repub party. The Repubs have since used the southern strategy i.e. playing the race card to hold on to the south which is still in many ways still quite racist. I say this as a southerner from Louisiana. The Repubs use code words or phrases like "state's rights" to let the bigots in the south know the party is still with them. Under Dwight Eisenhower former Allied General & a Repub the top tax bracket was 91 Percent. Repubs at that time believed if taxes had to be raised to balance the budget so be it but now letting the top bracket go from 32 to 34 percent drives the Repubs insane. Greed is Good is the Repub motto nowadays. The Demos created the public programs of Social Security, Medicare & Medicaid over the objections of the Repubs. This ongoing struggle between the two parties is not new as the Demos mostly fight to preserve these popular programs & the Repubs continue to try & dismantle them. The Repubs per their ideology do not believe in government sponsored social programs to aid the elderly, poor & sick folk. They should have to fend for themselves in the supposed free market. The Repubs via their pretty face/cold heart Ryan offers a plan that throws future elderly folk out in the insurance market with a 15 thousand dollar coupon which is suppose to cover all their medical bills for year which of course it will not so the elderly & probably sick on a fixed income will have to beg for help from some charity group or choose between their food & medicine. Ryan knows the reason Medicare exists is because their beloved health for profit industry refuses to cover the sick & old because there is no profit in it. Is Ryan & the Repubs going to force the for profit industry to cover old & sick people.... LOL!!! A mandate for business from the Repubs.... that's a hoot! They only issue mandates if you are a pregnant woman or if you are gay. The other thing Ryan has forgotten to mention is that even though he screws those folks under 55 with no Medicare when they get old the elderly folks on it now will begin to lose benefits immediately as his plan begins to dismantle the program in order to give more & more tax cuts to the wealthy because those tax cuts are done post haste. There is no need to MediScare (Oh you are just so clever Kurt with your words & telling people to take their meds.) anyone when just telling them the truth is enough.

As for Kurt's comrade in arms Barbara claiming the teabaggers did not burn Obama in effigy I don't know that for sure but I did see posters with the President made up like Hitler & the Joker & a witch doctor along with them calling him a socialist, communist, fascist, muslim terrorist, racist & endless other insults none of which are true.
