Are you planning for The Rapture this Saturday evening? Neither are we! But the May 21st Doomsday movement continues. Lawrence has already told you what he thinks about all this. But on tonight's edition of The Last Word, Lawrence discussed why some people believe this nonsense with Professor Barbara Rossing of the Lutheran School of Theology. Their discussion also covered the more serious ramifications of what I'll affectionately refer to as The Rapture, Inc. You can see the segment in the video below.
The Internets, however, are providing us with some sillier bits and pieces about the impending fake Rapture. The New York Daily News has a story on a business run by self-described atheists. For a fee of $135, Eternal Earth-Bound Pets, USA will care for your pets after you've been raptured. Each $135 fee is good for ten years of coverage and each additional pet is an extra $20. On its website, the company calls itself "The next best thing to pet salvation in a Post Rapture World." So far Eternal Earth-Bound Pets, USA has coverage in 26 states... but sadly for me, that does not include New York. So I guess I still need to find a heathen to take care of my cat Willie once my ultra-virtuous self is raptured on Saturday (fingers-crossed!!). For said heathen's troubles, he or she would of course be welcome to any of the DVDs and books in my apartment.
If you're not sure whether you'll be raptured, there is a helpful flowchart provided over on the Peas and Cougars blog (ht Jezebel).
If you know you won't be raptured... you can plan with others to loot from those who have been raptured thanks to this page on Facebook.
And lastly, for the latest Rapture news in 140-character form... there are updates on Twitter (of course).

Congress has VIOLATED the First Amendment of the US Constitution and Establi$hed Religion!
by RESE Tuesday, May. 17, 2011 at 5:30 PM
Our right (9th article of the U.S. Constitution is to be respon$ible to our own families fir$t has been violated. We must demand repeal of Federal unconstitutional IRS laws that grant Tax exemption $tatus!!
Congress has VIOLATED the First Amendment of the US Constitution and Establi$hed Religion! --
Working American families are forced to work at least four months of the year just to pay taxes!
This process is destroying families -- both parents must work to provide food, clothing and shelter for the children,
and who is there to meet the emotional needs of the children? Baby sitters who plop them in front of a TV??
We wonder why so many are unable to learn when they get to school, and why so few graduate from a high school, or go on to
college?
Our infrastructure is deteriorating -- as a result
Simply concentrating on the growth of the Federal Government after Wilson compromised himself to allow the rich families of the international Banking world to seize ultimate power of this country, maybe the only way to restore an America for the people and not the Pope's crusades!
Wilson said "I have unwittingly ruined my country " after allowing the wealthy international families who owned the majority share of the Banking corporations to create a TAX FREE Federal Reserve and it's collection agency the IRS, which Congress approved............. These families insured the preservation of their luxurious way of life at the expense of all others in America. Rothschilds, and Rockefellers to name two of them, see libertyforlife.com , for which oil dominates and suppresses other forms of energy, namely Wind, Tidal and Solar. BP (BRITISH Petroleum is building a solar farm on the grounds of Brookhaven National Labratories-- Taxpayer expense, and if successful BP profits, and we know most of the oil corporations pay little or no Federal Tax)
By so doing they insured themselves of the profits of an ever increasing Federal deficit- and an intrusion into State affairs.
It is no surprise they advised the IRS to declare their own foundations also TAX FREE, and they included a TAX EXEMPT STATUS for all religions. Knowing most of the world's main religions will fight to the death because they are convinced each is right, and bent on World Dominance, they insured themselves more profits from War corporations.
This Violates the first Amendment, Congress shall not make any law to e$tabli$h religion and the 9th Article of the Constitution, the people have rights (I say to help their own families fir$t- ).
I believe the states must start an amendment to repeal the tax free status of all the Above!
The Tea Party misses this entirely and we know the Jesuits use the profits of the tax free monies of the Roman Catholic Church to pay off the child abuse covered up by the highest officials of that cult, we know other religious cults have led people to debt and suicide, and we know , the tax free monies of the Jewish religion have supported schools teaching only their way of thinking at taxpayer expense. I have even seen Moslem students being bussed to Mosque schools at Tax payer expense.
The Tea Party wants to go after social programs that help those least able to afford cuts, instead of the real cause of our economic woes.
Your input would be greatly appreciated ..........
The Federal Reserve Bank is a consortium of twelve private banks which are not part of the United States Government.
These private banks purchase paper notes from the U.S. mint for printing cost or simply enter digital money into their computer then lend back the money plus interest to the people through member banks. The profits go into the share holders of the bank's pocket's, the U.S. public receives no benefit.
The Primary Owners of the Federal Reserve Bank Are:
1. Rothschild's of London and Berlin
2. Lazard Brothers of Paris
3. Israel Moses Seaf of Italy
4. Kuhn, Loeb & Co. of Germany and New York
5. Warburg & Company of Hamburg, Germany
6. Lehman Brothers of New York
7. Goldman, Sachs of New York
8. Rockefeller Brothers of New York
All the primary owners are branches of European establishments
They are all part of the Bilderbergs that are pushing for One world government.
It's not really that recent a phenomenon. People have been predicting the date of the end of the world for centuries (and no, I'm not talking about the Mayan one). Isaac Newton wrote a very bizarre book calculating the end of the book based on the measurements of the Temple of Solomon as described in the bible. He concluded by saying something like "So now that we know the exact date, perhaps this will allow people to get back to work and stop worrying about all the silly predictions that the world will end in the next one or two years." I forget the exact date he gave, but it was somewhere in the 2050's or something.
*End of the world, not end of the book. Sorry about that silly typo!
Kate, with this guys agenda Im sure your statement was true, it won't be the end of HIS books either. Coming in 2012!...End of the world..Part III!..I really, really, really mean it this time!
Um, no...if you're talking about December 21st or whatever it is, that's just the winter soltice. It happens every year.
well done C McNeill Well done! As far as the rapture, I say let it be....more room for the rational among us down here......
Three really important things going on
1 ALEC - a group writing legislation used by republicans in states all over that focuses on conservative social policy to privative services and put contracts into the hands of the corporate interests that operate the organization.
2. Conservative republican tactic since 1980 of starve the beast policy rather than balanced budget policy that deliberately put us in a deficit situation with the hope of forcing the elimination of all government regulation and citizen protections.
3. Representative Cantor's address to Wall Street execs stating that the current party has a very specific plan to continue the starve the beast policy by refusing to ever raise taxes or eliminate any current cuts and loopholes and to gut all regulatory and protective agencies and to privatize everything they possibly can.
Goodbye Medicare, social security, consumer protection, EPA, Public Health services, Public support services, infrastucture and education, hello Wackenhut, ExxonMobile, Big Pharma, Big Military, Corporate run towns, dying starving elders, widows and orphans...Wake up Folks
What if it really happened, say to just a handful of people scattered around the world. Would anyone really care, or would it change anything? Would the world sluff it off?
What if it really happened, say to just a relatively small numver of people, a few her and a handful there, people scattered around the world? Would anyone really care, or would people sluff off reports and go about their normal business? I wonder if people would care anyway. Does anyone have an opinion about that? Just wondering.
Yes, i do believe the Rapture will happen one day, but i am not basing it off of some mans predictions.. and it WILL matter because after the Rapture comes the 7- year tribulation period in which God will judge the earth. The Bible talks about this in Revelation and other books of the Bible. During the tribulation there will be 3 sets of judgements. Some of the judgements include: NO peace on the earth, people will die from hunger and by sword, great earthquakes, and there will be darkness and pain.
BUT... There's hope in Jesus Christ. All you have to do is put your trust in Him--believe and you will be saved!
"See that I have told you beforehand." -Jesus
"For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us.." (1 Thessalonians 5:9)
Depends on which theologian you follow as far as what happens in the Tribulation stuff and what not. I'd rather just listen to Lady Gaga...says the pastors kid :P
Plus the word Rapture comes from latin .. not literally translated from a greek word. It's just a fancy word meaning "to be snatched up" nothing more than that. People just believe in the teachings because they became popular by the Margaret MacDonald in Scotland in the 1830's... and recorded by John Darby.
Plus when Daniel speaks of "THE Knowledge increasing, he's talking about his own prophecies not other peoples.
Stop using the bible as a self-fufilling resource by taking the Word out of Context. You're better off just laying in the sun and being happy.
The books of Revelations is based on dreams of John.... or he may have just made all this up to freighten the evil people of this time. It is so confussing that it has been interpreted by thousands and no one has come up with a firm conclussion. The events and cities he talks about were of his time.....Not ours. The last word is that God will come again.....? So make a choice, do you believe that are not. How he will come I do not think anyone knows. I have a feeling we will all just distroy each other.
It's already May 21st in New Zealand :-)
Shame on you, Lawrence, making fun of and ridiculing the sacred beliefs of a religious individual and junior grade icon... Why, it's rude and un-American! Well, never mind what the most famous American of the 19th Century--Mark Twain--occasionally said about religion...
Decorum should dictate you should at least wait until afterwards, although, frankly, any "I told you so's" aren't going to carry the weight they did with The Donald and Huckabee... Don't expect to collect on the trifecta for this one...
And oh my, now MSNBC is reporting that Family Radio and Harold Camping have taken in 80 million dollars from viewers and still have assets of 72 million...
Watch Stephen Colbert accuse you folks of being jealous...
Finally, since I prefer to stick to history and not prophecy, here's a report on the "Great Disappointment" that occurred in October of 1844 and involved a Baptist Convert named William Miller who predicted the second coming of Jesus on October 22 of that year...
//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_Seventh-day_Adventist_Church
Way I hear it, some of the descendants of that group are still hanging around and waiting...
Okay, I'll make a prediction... We are about to watch "The Great Disappointment: The Sequel" unfold beginning Sunday, May 22...
In the name of Gary Trudeau (a shameless plug for Doonesbury),
SLC
lol. is all I have to say as a Pastor's Kid, I honestly don't believe all this hype and would rather make fun of it by laying clothes out on the streets. Because yes while that my seem mean, it would just prove a point to see how GULLIABLE people are to believe everything they hear...Even Abraham was able to discern the Spirit before he killed his son, to know it was not GOD telling him to sacrifice his son.
Just because a man says the world is going to end doesn't mean it will, it just means if he's wrong his personal world will.
Well I've heard much worst from the East Coast of AmUUUrica than hurting someone's religious feelings.
Harlod is a genius. O my, 80 million? Heck, Ill make up a fake date to gain that much money!
Harold Camping has arrived at his conclusion that tomorrow is judgement day through the practice of Numerology. He is a false prophet, a charlatan, and is very, very rich. So sad for those who live lives of "quiet desperation" and are seeking a sanctioned escape.
That or he just isn't happy with himself.
This whole rapture thing is very ridiculous...
I am not a believer, but even I remember that in the bible it says we will not know when (if.....) it will ever happen.
People need to stop taking the bible to heart....it is just like any other fictional book out there....they are stories told from what people thought they saw, or stories they made up that they thought others might enjoy.
There is nothing wrong in believing in a higher power(s), but it is VERY wrong to assume that one certain religion is the right and only one..Christianity is just a knock off from religions before its time..All religions are based around the same thing...A god, or many gods, and worshipping them and giving money to them..(what is a celestial being going to do with money??) Most of these relgious folk just can't live their life for themselvs and feel like they HAVE to have something to believe in..something to give them hope...It's rather pathetic in my opinion...
ANYWAYS.....the rapture is not going to happen on the 21st...Just like George W. Bush isn't/wasn't the anti-christ.......Stop looking into and believing a book that is thousands of years old and just live in the present....you don't have to be a Christian(or relgious at all......but it's mostly christians that are so crazy) to have morals and stanards....
wow, not to knock you off your high horse Erin, but Christianity is more than just a religion. Its a lifestyle. the Bible is more than just storys told by many different writers. Its the guide to life, the inspirational word of God. more than just a "history" book. the writers wrote not what they thought they saw but exactly what they saw.... they were there not you. Christianity is not a knock off from other religions. accually other religions are knock offs of Christianity. and not all religions are based on the same thing. most religions prior to Christianity are based on people worshiping many gods. if you lived back in the times of the Greeks, Egyptians, Mayans, the times of Atlantis and prior to that... thousands of years before our modern technology, how would you explain natural disasters? the sun coming up in the morning and setting in the evening? the stars and moon? whirlpools? rain?.... if you lived in that time with very little knowledge of the world, you'd come up with the same thing they did...(many gods) now your right when you say that the rapture will not happen today and that Bush isn't the anti-christ, but a "book" that was written thousands of years ago helped me restore my marraige, children, and more importantly myself.. i dont know bout you but i'd rather know the word of God, and live a good life and then after i die find out that God isnt real then live my life not knowing God and giving my life to him, then die and find out he indeed is real and go to hell to be eternally tortured but satan himself... have a great life Erin.
I agree it is a lifestyle.....but there are some so called religions, referring to themselves as Christian, who do not follow the teaching of Jesus.....They start trying to take the Bible not as a history of times, but as a book of authority.....People recording the books of the bible were only human..... I'm sure their thinking and oppinios of the time took some part in it. As a CHRISTIAN, I think we should try to live the kind of dedicated life that Jesus lived and not try to put our judgement on others......much easier said than done.
I'm one of those Christians who stands forgiven, and ready for what ever comes....as far as the so called rapture, and doomsday stuff, I'm having my hair done and buying a new car, and working at the food bank ....just another day in my life.
to Polo...
The attitude you took to the person you were responding is the exact reason so many of us think christianity and all your god stuff is a waste of time, not a legitimate religion and way of life. You were rude. I am so sick of being preached at by rude, snooty, holier-than-thou people who have no f---ng clue what the hell is in the book they are preaching anyway. I have been to churches most of my life, and you know what I learned? The world is full of hypocrites. I think I met 1 person in my entire life that both 'witnesses' to people as well as preaches with his actions. Don't preach to people while being a jerk...it sorta of shows us how 'blessed' we are to not be like you.
Cheryl- I agree 100%. You put it very eloquently in my opinion...
Polo- Rather in hell with all my friends than in heaven all alone ;)
Only the New Testament is Christian for it is about Christ. Christian means to be like and follow the teachings of Christ . Anything else or any other action is something else not Christian. Mr. Camping is not Christian for it was Christ that said we know not the date or time of the rapture nor does he himself son of God know. He did add it would come like a thief in the night. In other words when we least expect it. Just live your life the best you can and dont worry about what other people believe and help and try to make a difference for the good of mankind and you will see heaven.
ok so i have been reading alot into this... maybe more then i needed to. i'm a born again christian. been one since 2004. all this hype interests me a great deal. it goes to show that the bible is indeed right. not that the the rapture will occur today at 6pm while we are all about to sit down to the dinner. but on the fact that the jesus does state that during the end-times many false prophets will arise and sway the multitude. proclaiming that the end is near or they are the christ. starting many false religions and "distracting" people from the truth. well the truth is that we are in the end-times. how far into the end-times is not for us to guage but for god andgod himself to know. i mean for all we know as i type this god is rapturing his people. for all we know the rapture wont happen during our lifetime. people like camping who try to put a date on the end of days ignorant. ive read his entire calculations on how he came up with this and you know, for a second there i found myself being sucked in. although his math seems to be very accurate, according to what he says, it is contrary to the word of god so i dismiss anything camping says. my pastor put it this way "god says it, that settles it" and god's word says not to try and put a date to the end of days. jesus says that no man knows the day or time not even himself. only god knows. so with that said, nothing is going to happen today. life will just go on. now is camping wrong to warn people of the endtimes and the comming of jesus? absolutely not! accually what he is doing is a sort of outreaching on a grand scale. he just decided to put a date on the whole thing and contradict god totally..... hopefully people would turn from their ways and turn to god. what about campings very specific prediction? well he's 89 years old... he might not be too far off.... lol....maybe for him the end is today at 6pm. but for us we will still be here come sunday morning going to church or doing whatever we do on sundays. lets put it this way. campings basically set events in motion that put people in a frenzy, which in turn made them get rid of all earthly possessions and completly rely on this specific date and time which will never come, which, in turn put their immediate family at risk. i mean some of these people had spend every last cent of their kids college fund or their retirement or life savings, sold their homes, also quit their jobs just to sit down come 5:58pm local time and wait for 6pm just to be disappointed and relize that they lost everything. what happens at 6:01?...... 6:02?...... 6:10?........7:00?..........10:00?........ sunday moring?.......
i know!!!!! i know!!!!!
now that campings has all these people following his rediculous prediction. come sunday and we are all still here. he is going to proclaim that the rapture did indeed come to pass and that god found no one worthy to be raptured up. not even children because children are born in sin. and now we are all going to die when the world ends on oct 21st 2011. ...... then when oct 21 comes and yet again nothing happens, he will say that god decided that is was not fair to just let everyone die and god will show his mercy and give us one more chance.
its laughable though.
we are in the endtimes now, but its god and god only who calls the shots, not us.
i dont know about you but tomorrow at 5:55 i will be on my roof in my white wrobe. waiting... lol.... yeah ok.....
god bless
I MEAN TODAY AT 5:55PM...LOL
PoloHot
I think we would take Christians more seriously if they actually followed the teachings of Christ. Like it or not, Christ was a radical Socialist. Feed the hungry, minister to the sick, take care of the poor, these are not the teachings of a Conservative. Instead, we have people who say all you have to do is 'accept' Christ as your savior, then you can treat people like dirt and still get to Heaven. How does one 'accept' Christ as their savior? To me, if you just say the words, you are truly just paying lip-service to Christ. To me, 'accepting' Christ means living by his teachings and putting them into practice in your life. So, even if the Rapture did happen today (which it won't) there would be a lot of very surprised 'Christians' standing around wondering what happened.
Amen! MDrn
how will the conservatives (fox news) blame the president because the rapture didn't occur?
or how will they say that water boarding contributed to that very fact?
Please tell me the verse I can find the word rapture in? Also John wrote his books (letters) to actual people living at that time to warn them about something. He and Paul also talked of the lords coming as very close, upon them. I do not find 2000 years close and please don't use the day with the Lord is like a thousand years. For one it is not trying to show us 1=1000 and 2 we are not present with the Lord so its still just a day.
MDrn
True born again Christians read the Bible and DO follow the teachings of Christ. there are some Christians who claim to be Christians but have never opened the bible nor fully accepted Christ as their lord and savior. Jesus was not a "radical socialist". he was the living son of God. now... yes he did feed the hungry, minister NOT only to the sick but to everyone. he healed the sick. gave a blind man sight, cured a man diseased with leprocy. the list goes on. now as far as accepting Christ. you have to truly acknowledge that you are a sinner, repent, turn from your wicked ways and understand that Jesus died for your sins before you can truly accept him as your lord and savior. you just can't just say " yea yea Jesus i accept you as my savior. now give me what i deserve".
once you have fully accepted Christ and understand, your life will be transformed. see like i said earlier, Christianity is a lifestyle choice. I choose every day to wake up and smile, treat my wife with respect and love, love my children, pray, intercede for people. it is so easy to get caught up with the things of this world and let everything bother you. so you are right in saying that if you just say the words you are playing the game. well thats because there is no substance behind it. now put the same effort into Christ that you in anything that you love doing, it would change your life. and yes accepting Christ means living by his teachings and putting it into practice in your very life...... now that you have acknowledged that you do indeed know what accepting Christ means to you and you are right on the money...... so whats stopping you? and no the rapture will not happen today. it probably wont happen in our lifetime. me personally, i'm looking forward to this "rapture" tonight.... i wanna see what all these people who sold their homes quit their jobs and spent every last cent are going to do come tomorrow morning they wake up and relized nothing happened...lol
It's real sweet of you to make fun of these poor people who truly believe the world will end today. After today many of them will have nothing left, maybe not even their faith. Mocking them doesn't seem like something a born again Christian (as you profess to be) should do.
I'm sorry Polo.....but it is not our's to judge if others are Christian enough! I did not believe what this man was saying about doomsday, I just as a Christian he might have spun his own interpretation. The human mind plays a lot of tricks on us.
lol Polo...what's so funny is that if you read what you wrote, you would realize you are one of those people who would be let standing surprised. So rude, so ignorant of how to be a christian, yet so willing to preach to the rest of us.
If Jesus died for my sin's and I go to hell wouldn't his blood have been wasted. How am I condemed to hell if his blood has paid the price for me. Remember it is you that said he died for me.
wow, reading these comments has helped me so so sooo much. i'm young ( my age will stay hidden mind you, but i am a teen ) and all trhis 'end of the world' crap really scared. i began googling and reading up on things that really didnt make me feel any less afraid. . . and according to the bible, that's a sin because God didnt give me a spirit of fear but of love, power, and a sound mind. now i've read revelations ( that's some INTENSE stuff people lemme tell you ) and i know the signs and what to look for so the fact that i doubted His word was wrong and i just wanted to say that i really appreciated your comments ( the ones y NOT ripping on christianity anyways ) because it took away some of my fear and i know that as long as i stay in the word i will be OKAY!!! hooraaay!
p.s. im not gonna rag on you people who did think the world was gonna end today cuz that was me like. . .3 minutes ago haha thanks again guys!
i am a chrisian, and it clearly states in the bible that no one knows when except the father(god) read it and weep!!!!
polo is a nitwit!!!!!
Jeannine, if you're a Christian, you shouldn't be calling someone else a "nitwit."
"Judge not, lest ye be judged."
Jesus taught us the way that we should live. It's all in Matthew 25: feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit the sick and imprisoned, shelter the homeless, welcome the stranger. If you believe in the Last Judgment, whenever it might come, those are the criteria on which we will be judged.
He also said "Love one another." Seems simple enough to me, but people want to make it more complicated, so they can exclude others from their special club.
I actually feel sorry for the people who bought into this Rapture scam - just as I felt sorry for the suicidal members of Jim Jones' cult.
Many years ago as a young teenager, I asked my grandfather about this. He said that the world ends for a lot of people every day. See mark 13.32. C U in church tomorrow.

Now, brothers, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. But you, brothers, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. (1 Thes. 5:1-4)
No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.” (Matt. 24:36-37)
THats all i have to say
Obsessive compulsive disorder takes many forms including fixation on death
and obsession on religion.
I must have missed the news stories in 1994 about this old guy ... either that, or I dismissed them then for the same reason that I don't buy his claim now, then proceeded to forget about the whole thing. But I do remember the whole Y2K boondoggle, which was based on something more immediately tangible at the time than a mixture of fundamentalist creationism and numerology. A lot of people were worried that the infrastructure of Internet technology would "meltdown" just because of an old programming glitch using two digits for year dates rather than four. There may have been some valid cause for concern, but it got blown way out of proportion. Then there was the confusion over whether the year 2000 or 2001 was the actual first year of the new century and millenium.
So now that the "deadline" for "the Rapture" is fast approaching (less than 15 minutes away in Vienna, Austria as I write this, and just over 8 hours to go here on the West Coast ... or 9, if one takes into account Daylight Time), what comes next on the 'Doomsday front'? Will Camping switch his prediction to coincide with the end of the Mayan calendar in a desparate attempt to retain his following and save face in some way? Since he's 89, another question might be will he live long enough to see Dec. 21, 2012? These are not questions upon which I expect to dwell in the coming months; I still have work to do and bills to pay, and a daughter planning on getting married this summer (she's having a bridal shower even as I write this), and those are the matters of most immediate concern to me.
Religion. All of them!! Just a crutch for someone that can't find self worth or the inner strength to live their life honestly and compassionately. How many religions are there in the world? Hundreds? Thousands? Which one is right? Oh, yours!!!
There is one simple golden rule we learn at an early age that everyone on earth should be judged by when the time comes. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you".
No matter what you have been taught, think about all the millions of people that have been taught something different andthink their religion is the right one...the only one. Will they all go to hell because they were taught something different than you?
Giving yourself to god and serving him means only one thing no matter who you are and what you have been taught. Help your fellow man. Do the right thing! Serve God by being his representative on earth.
Close your eyes for the last time on earth knowing that you lived your life the way he would have wanted you to, and if there is a heaven, you will find it.
I agree with Polo! cheryl, soccergirl, and erin probably no nothing of the bible, who gives you the right to affend christ belivers??! Erin a little note to you: that was the most affending comment you could say to someone who belives in the lord, just because you don't believe doesn't mean you have to post saying things like the bible is fictional and christians are crazy cuz thats basically saying we're dumb! mabey if you actually read the bible you would look at the situation from our point of view.
lol. Erm, the bible is fictional and you ARE dumb. Welcome to reality. So, 'christian believers' have the right to --offend--(spelling class would be better for you than religion, just a note)...but those who are not 'christian believers' are not allowed to question? We aren't allowed to think for ourselves and point out the flaws in the religion you preach? An excellent book I would like to suggest to anyone: God is NOT Great, How Religion Poisons Everything, by Christopher Hitchins. He clearly expresses the same reasons I have come to believe christianity or any form of religion is merely a fairy tale.
Try waiting tables as a simple example. I did for years. I loved the late night bar crowd, they were generally funny, nice, and tipped well. The after church crowd? Rude, snotty, left bible tracts instead of tips...without even asking if I believed in the first place. (BTW, at that time, I did.) Such an example to live by.
As far as reading the bible, I have...several times all the way through. I could also recite parts for you. Just because I have read it does not mean I believe it as reality anymore than my reading Cinderella has made me believe you can go to the ball in a pumpkin-turned-carriage.
I agree with PoloHot! Cheryl,Soccergirl, and Erin probably know nothing of the bible so what gives you the right to affend believers of the lord??! A little note to Erin: Your comment was the most affending out of all of them, if you don't even believe in the lord or know what the bible is about what makes you think you can call christians crazy or call the bible "fictional." Polo was not being rude at all he was just standing up for his beliefs moron! Erin... you should try to believe and trust in God and he will do great things for you!! you will also be saved!
sorry i posted twice oops...!
