Mike Huckabee says he'll announce whether or not he's running for president on his FOX News show tomorrow. But Lawrence already has a good idea of what he'll say. MSNBC political analyst Alex Wagner joined The Last Word tonight to hear Lawrence's prediction and to survey the rest of the Republican's 2012 potential candidates.

What and embarrassment to have to listen in on the "Last Word" program. O'Donnell seems to enjoy tearing down our most sacred institutions, like the former Presidency, with a great deal of zeal. Imagine, if you can, that all of the above programs are broadcast world wide, mostly by the Armed Forces Network, and the local populace get to see our democracy in full action, There is no wonder that we are being tested everyday. Our resolve is constantly being torn down and trashed by smirking and quick witted " entertainers" like O'Donnell. We are constantly bombarded by TRASH that is being portrayed as fact. Because you were not there when President Bush made the comments about BL you could never know what was going on behind the scenes. Our current President was partying while the final plans were being drawn up to the out BL. The unilateral action we took and the ramification that are now coming our way will play out soon. I fully expect the witty and smirking O'Donnell to put the blame fully on the shoulders of GW. Lastly on the issue of the former dirt bag senator Ensign, go right ahead and tear him up, he clearly is guilty and should be dis honored. But I hearken back to the former president that was caught red handed having SEX in the peoples house and where was the out rage then? if you are referring to clinton, there was plenty of outrage. outrage from the republican party who wanted to bring president clinton down over a blow job. i will say this as many times as i have to-newt gingrich who was was having an affair with with his now wife, was leading the charge against president clinton. we then found out that a republican congressman, foley, was soliciting sex from pages on capitol hill. larry "wide stance", "i am not gay, i have never been gay" craig was caught soliciting sex from an undercover cop in a twin cities airport bathroom. you mentioned ensign above. coburn should be found guilty as well, for lying about his part in trying to cover up the affair, of course i am sure he has been granted immunity for deciding to cooperate. who is that republican who sent shirtless pictures of himself for the purposes of soliciting sex?

For Suzette: Although a die hard Republican I have NEVER pulled the party line lever in the booth. I could not, and in good conscience will not, defend the irresponsible rhetoric directed at MY president, now or then. Those of us that are not party to the inner circle have no clue on the mind set that goes into making a command decision. BHO did good in the decision making process on taking out OBL, but was the same opportunity available to GW? We will never know, but just because the Seals wanted to tramp around Pakistan in the hunt for their target is no reason to direct such actions. ettore, after hearing from servicemen involved in tora bora in 2001, and because of research that i have done, i feel very comfortable in saying that bush was at least afforded the odds that president obama was in getting bin Laden.
#1. bush refused to put enough american troops in to do the job, and counted too heavily on afghan militias and pakastani paramilitary troops who may have had loyalties to bin Laden. our allies simply did not have the same incentives to stop bin Laden as our american troops did. the CIA's afghan chief, Hank Crumpton, urged bush to not rely on afghan militias and the pakastani paramilitary to get bin Laden.
#2. after a two week battle at tora bora, where they were closing in on bin Laden based on strong intelligence, suddenly the decision was made to pull most of the troops out of afghanistan and into iraq, which allowed bin Laden to go free.
i am absolutely bewildered as to why bush did not commit enough soldiers and marines into afghanistan, but instead took his eye off bin Laden WHEN THEY WERE CLOSING IN ON HIM, and went after saddam hussein instead (mushroom cloud?). one must wonder how much impact the oil business relationships that the bin Laden's and bush's shared influenced his decision to drop the ball on bin Laden. and because of the comments i have heard bush make about saddam hussein trying to kill his daddy, i ask myself, "was this a personal vendetta"? dick cheney said it wasn't a good idea to go into afghanistan because, "there are no good targets there", and he did make a lot of money off the iraqi war through haliburton. conflict of interest? i ask you.
of course some of this is speculation. but for me this, based on what i know to be true about tora bora and the fact that they were very close to getting bin Laden, and abruptly went after saddam hussein instead, begs for serious questioning of the bush administration.
and why would they out a CIA agent, valarie plame, after her husband wrote an article in the New York Times, entitled, "what i didn't find in Niger". can someone explain that to me? scooter libby served time for that, as should have carl rove and cheney, and probably bush. by the way, they sent joe wilson to niger to find out if saddam was trying to buy uranium for nuclear weapons. when joe found out that it wasn't true, and published the article i mentioned above, the bush administration retaliated by outing his wife, valarie plame, a CIA agent.
i will say this. if bush would have had the same drive to get bin Laden and put enough troops in afghanistan, he would have gotten the job done.
it sounds to me like you are saying that the seals led this operation, and because they wanted to do it, president obama went along with it. if you listen to what this president says, and i think we can believe him based on the results, he put leon panetta on this immediately after he was sworn in. and the seals were not "tramping" around pakistan looking for an opportunity. they flew from the united states right to bin Laden's compound based on excellent intelligence.
if you feel that you will never know if bush was given an opportunity to take bin Laden out, than think of tora bora, and ask yourself why does it appear that bush simply didn't have the same drive as president obama to get bin Laden.
