Andrew Card was Pres. George W. Bush's Chief of Staff during the "Mission Accomplished" speech. (May 1, 2003 aboard USS Abraham Lincoln)
Does the name Andrew Card ring a bell? He was the Chief of Staff for President George W. Bush until April of 2006. Card is the guy who whispered into Pres. Bush's ear on September 11, 2001 while Pres. Bush was reading to school children in Florida telling him the nation was under attack. He was also the Chief of Staff for Pres. Bush during the now-infamous "Mission Accomplished" speech on May 1, 2003. You know... the one where Pres. Bush piloted an airplane onto the USS Abraham Lincoln. Yeah, that one.
Well, the man who was Pres. Bush's Chief of Staff during that speech thinks Pres. Obama has "pounded his chest a little too much" after catching Osama bin Laden. Here's part of his conversation with the German newspaper, Spiegel:
SPIEGEL: But now President Obama is the big winner…
Card: I think he has pounded his chest a little too much. He can take pride in it, but he does not need to show it so much.
SPIEGEL: He didn't appear triumphant while announcing bin Laden's death.
Card: I thought his statement was subdued, but I think his schedule is not subdued. Personally, I think it is premature to go to Ground Zero, in New York. I think my role model in this would be George H. W. Bush, when the Berlin Wall came down in 1989. It was a day to celebrate, but we did not dance on the Wall.

Andy Card is an ass!
The more the bushies get air time, the more the brainwashed will be fed their talking points.
Brainwash is a good way of describing these people. There was a time when communists believed in brainwashing. They would have been envious of those controlling the Republican party today!
More douche baggery from another whining Republican
Wow. Will the hypocrisy of some Republican ever cease to amaze me? George Bush flies on a jet to an aircraft carrier and speaks under the banner of "Mission Accomplished" and this guy says Obama is pounding his chest?
"Pounding his chest" may have some very slight racial (African jungle-type) undertones... but I'm probably just reading into it too much. It was probably not meant that way. In any case, the President seemed pretty serious and stoic during his speech.
Nice catch... I agree...
You know, getting Bin Laden and the way the mission was accomplished was a pretty big damn deal. Why can't we be satisfied with the success? Oh, that's right, we have to infect even this good moment with political gamesmanship.
So the sickening display of the obviously orchestrated wave of Republicans raises a hue and cry to a crescendo of belittling Obama's achievement with "we're not getting enough credit!"
These are the adults talking, right?
I say make sure they get held to their stance of saying gwbush was right about everything in the 2012 elections.
I knew a guy who was in Bora Bora and they were very close to getting Osama. At the last minute they were pulled out by a general. He and his friends were very mad.
Next thing you know we are fighting a war in Iraq. Bush needed a boogie man to keep his friends (Halliburton and Blackwater) happy. Millions went to contractors and the military. Bush pulled us out of Afganistan. They knew he was there.I bet these guys helped keep him a secret by locking up guys in secret bunkers who knew where he was. Amazing Pakistan got money to play the game.
Without a boogie man who needs a war!
Card is pissed because Obama took away their boogie man with intelligence. He showed that you don't need rockets red glare to kill a bad guy.
sergon, another piece of the puzzle.
there is no question in my mind that bush really didn't want to catch bin laden. all those years, on the rare occasion that bush ever spoke of bin laden, and then he spoke about him only because he was asked, when bush said that he was stuck in a cave, on the run and "marginalized", he was probably living in the basement of the white house.
apparently the bush administration did need rockets red glare to take out the bad guy they were really after, saddam hussein.
I didn't know the Berlin Wall was the leader of a terrorist organization focused on the destruction of the United States! Where can I find the video evidence of President Obama dancing at ground zero, or on Bin laden's corpse or whatever this schmuck was trying say?
I am now sure most of the republican party is pure evil, with the lies and attacks on the people of our country to benefit their "GOD" (money). I'm not so sure about the democrats either, but at least I'm not sure.
This is just more "sour grapes" from the right. They can't stand the fact that Obama and the Navy Seals got Osama Bin Laden and they were unable to do so in all the years GWB was in power.
Wasn't it Dubya who said, on March 13, 2002, "I don't know where Bin Laden is.
I have no idea and really don't care. It's not important. It's not a priority."
It was indeed, & to me it sounded like gwbush was talking about an old friend.
This makes me think of an old Simon and Garfunkle song ...
Obama and his intelligence and patience is what lead to the demise of BinLaden and it sickens me every time Cheney and the other idiots try to claim credit because of "enhanced questioning procedures". I think OBAMA was extremely dignified in his announcement of the situation and he also had every right to go to ground zero to pay homage to our unarmed civilians that were killed on 911.The Republicans are disgusting in their total disrespect of one of the most brilluant presidents this country has ever had.
isn't that something. the republicans can't wait to give the bush administration credit for the killing of bin laden, but they don't want to give bush any credit for tanking the economy.
hypocrisy at its finest.
Hypocrisy? The understatement of the millenium!!! Weren't they the party of
"family values", and known as the "Moral Majority"? Evangelicals? I don't know which Bible they read, but mine says "whatsoever you do for the least of My children, that you do also for Me". Yep...sure. The economy? Did it trickle down while we weren't looking?
And if Obama HADN'T gone to Ground Zero, they would have criticized him for not respecting the families.
