New details are emerging today that show officials within Pakistan's military and intelligence services may have been giving aid to Osama bin Laden on his compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. From today's Wall Street Journal:
Two senior U.S. officials and a high-level European military-intelligence official who have direct working knowledge of Pakistan's military intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence Directorate, say similar elements linked to the ISI have aided other Pakistan-based terror groups, the Haqqani militant network and Lashkar-e-Taiba.
"There's no doubt he was protected by some in the ISI," the European official said of bin Laden. The officials say they believe these ISI elements include some current and former intelligence and military operatives with long-standing ties to al Qaeda and other militant groups.
The officials didn't offer specific evidence, but pointed to the town's proximity to the capital and its high concentration of current and former military and intelligence officers. They said aid likely included intelligence tips to help keep bin Laden ahead of his American pursuers.
Earlier today, Pakistan's military called for cuts in the number of U.S. military personnel in Pakistan in protest to the Navy SEAL raid on bin Laden's compound. Pakistani military officials are also threatening to cease cooperation with U.S. officials if there are more U.S. operations inside the country's borders.
The New York Times obtained the statement from Pakistan's military leader, Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani. It reads, “Any similar action violating the sovereignty of Pakistan will warrant a review on the level of military-intelligence cooperation with the United States.”
A top official at The Pentagon also told The Times that White House officials "do not have any definitive evidence at this point" (emphasis added). Undersecretary of Defense for Policy Michele A. Flournoy characterized her conversations with Pakistani military officials as "very candid." Flournoy added, "We are still talking with the Pakistanis and trying to understand what they did know, what they didn’t know.”

The news doesn't tell you anything of importance in this country.
Obviously pakistan knew what went down, but because of national security purposes for us AND them, they aren't going to admit they knew. They are going to act surprised and outraged at the "violation of their sovereignty" as I'm sure was planned.
This is no conspiracy, it's common knowledge of international affairs. Pakistan's government is already weak and is known that people in their government and ISI are working with extremists. Pakistan working with America would anger this vast group and if they do not respond to a "violation of sovereignty," they will look weak.
Pakistan's government falling to radicals, extremists, etc... is a very real concern. They need to appease us and them while "hiding" the fact to both parties. They have to look strong against us and look like we aren't bossing them around, while they have to help us w/o angering the extremists who they are afraid might take over.

Am I the only one that watched Christianne Amampour say on national tv about 5 years ago, that she was told by someone in Pakistani intelligence that Bin Laden was living in a "villa in Pakistan" ? Did they try then to look in other places than caves? I know Pakistan is a large country, but it made total sense to me. Maybe nobody believed her information then.

Can we be certain Bin Laden was hiding in the Abbottabad compound, and not held captive there?
With all the conflicted tales of his resistance (and the final admission that he had no weapon), could it be that he was actually killed by his Pakistani captors as the Seals burst in?
We need to blog our congressmen and senators to stop support of Pakistan and to pull our troops out of Afghanistan. They are in very serious danger especially if we shared our locations of troops and supplies with Pakistan.
This applies to Iraq too.
No more aids to Pakistan and for reconstruction business in Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen, Libya, Somalia and other basket Muslim nations.

Bush could have done a Navy SEALs mission in Tora Bora in 2002 but what happened instead, Bush told Afghanistan and Pakistan leaders what he was going to do. He procrastinated. He sent two $500,000 each bunker bombs, and because of his procrastination and his leaking the information to people, Bin Laden escaped and we did not get him again until Obama became President. Obama could have chosen several paths. He chose the Navy SEAL path. He chose not to tell Pakistan. He suggested another helicopter in case one crashed. He chose extra forces as backup, and etc. Too bad it took a black man to get the job done. That's what you Republicans are really thinking.
