New numbers suggests Americans are just not that into Rep. Paul Ryan’s plan to swap out Medicare for a voucher-based system.
A Washington Post-ABC poll released today found 78 percent of American oppose cutting spending on Medicare in order to nix the national debt. And 65% say the Medicare program should remain the same while 34% favor Ryan's version.
The Republican Congressman got booed by his own constituents yesterday at a town hall meeting in Milton, Wisconsin. The topic of taxing the rich riled up the audience and left Ryan to defend what he called “fundamental” disagreements on how to handle the problem.
Ryan’s so-called “Path To Prosperity” budget plan aims to reduce spending by $5 trillion over the next 10 years.

hahahaha classic , gthomass & annon in a love fest
That's OK G.Thomas you and annnottheman can get back to your play totsie lurv fest in the toilet again like good RepubliCON's.
Sheep
Reid should bring the Ryan bill up for a vote. That will force Republicans to either filibuster/vote against the bill which would not go over very well with the TP, or vote on the bill which would not go over very well with their base of older people. Win/win for the Dems.
Or he can let Ryan run around the southern states and become enemies with ALL the teabaggers..... Pretty soon they will be eating their own..It's funny to watch.
OBAMA 2012
Don't hate. You should be worried about a viable candidate to go up against Mr. Obama...LOL
Ignore last post. Reply'd to wrong post.
very telling! GREAT stuff, this shows just how much of a hard sell this is going to be come 2012, because that is part of their core value system and it's being exposed for what it truly is! #leanforwardbaby
Ryan gets booed while Obama get's smiles, cameras flashing and a warm welcome.
Republicons got a lot of work to do...good luck...LOL
OBAMA 2012
Don't hate, you should be worried about finding a viable candidate to run against Mr. Obama. Trump don't count.
Obama 2012
And he's never said an unkind low down dirty thing against any of the people or groups that have plummeted him daily with their unkind low down dirty barrage of misinformation and hatred.
He's the man....OBAMA 2012
G.Thomas. Sorry but not everyone is like you and thinks the "hood" is something you wear to meetings with your buddies.
And once again the riechwingnut trolls show their intelligence, or lack thereof. Fox news called again, they are still missing a couple of idiots.
Proud Dem my politically confused friend, and like my 'ol grandad used to say, 'Son, we're surrounded by idiots'.
Re: Republicans and "stronger leadership": I feel that strong leadership OVER A CLIFF is generally ineffective (intentional understatement here!). JMHO. :-)

correction-chalk.
i think G. and annNO are "mean girl" cyber-bullies.
Ryan at least has the courage to tell the truth about Budget deficits and Medicare and try to do something about it. Those who want to do nothing about it are basically just delaying the inevitable and lying to themselves that our country's trillions in debt will not affect them at all. It will however, sooner than you think...
In 4 years as a small business owner, and 28 years working for Fortune 500 companies, not once was the company tax bracket considered in deciding whether or not to add staff. Staffing is contingent upon the amount of work to be done and has NO relationship to taxes paid by the business.
JSangl, that is what I don't get or understand. Any company wanting to expand only expands when they have more customers, not when they get a lower % on a bank loan or get a larger tax break. Why is that so hard for folks, who get in front of a camera, to point out?
Ryan has a plan, Obamas got words on a teleprompter !
And that plan has sunk the neocons up to their neck. Even Ryan's own voters booed him. They have shown their true colors and the American people, even the repub voters hate their agenda. What moron would propose having the poor and elderly pay with their medicaid and medicare for MORE tax cuts for the mega rich? Thank you Paul Ryan for energizing the Dem base. See you at the voting booth!
What a waste of time and money. All this proposal shows is the degree of disconnect the GOP has with the majority in America.
Leadership sits down at the table with all involved ... hard choices are then shared. Anything else is just politics.
Ryan seems like a nice enough young man ... too bad he can't see when he's being played by his own party. ... think about why they send the "new guy" out with this message. [coal mine canary]
Here's something ... since raising taxes is a big issue for the "job creators" I'd propose a tax credit based on how many jobs they create and keep in the form of a multiplier used at the end of the year. The more work you make .. the less tax you pay.
The Ryan Plan is a flop that's why they booed him. He got what he deserved. He can't do that to Seniors while giving the Corporations and the rich money and not expect to get a backlash from his own people. He knew he was lying. The Republicans are constantly throwing out the line that these people (the rich) are the job creators and yet no jobs. They haven't created one job. They need to stop lying to the American people and listen to the people.
I'll bet Ryan's breath stinks because all that SH** coming out of his mouth. Giving the top 2 or 3% the same Bush tax breaks doesn't create anything for the US they just outsource all the jobs overseas, and aren't taxed on that ether. Right now they need to pay. When we are out of this mess Bush got us in, and they bring the jobs back to the US then they can have their tax breaks. Big corps are destroying this country.
I readily admit that we need to bring down the deficit. However, Paul Ryan's plan does not actually do that. Republicans are calling him courageous for putting forth this plan, but, in actuallity all Ryan's plan does is single out the weakest and the poorest. Had Ryan pushed for a higher tax rate on those making over $250,000.00 or $500,000.00 a year, eliminating tax loopholes for major corporations, and cutting back on defense spending along with his other cuts, THAT would have been courageous, instead, it appears that he is just a bully picking on the weakest kids on the school playground.
Where was all this righteous indignation when George W. Bush and the Republican party was spending money like crazy? Why didnt the Republicans complain when G.W. Bush was putting two wars on a credit card? Didnt they realize then that the bill would come due? They remained strangely quiet, and, in fact, allowed it to go on and on with absolutely NO adult supervision at all. Now, all of a sudden the Republicans are screaming "We HAVE to do something about the deficit" well, we do, but, we need to do it in a way that EVERYONE has to share the pain, not just the poor and elderly, but EVERYONE. Until or unless the Republicans can come up with a plan that does exactly that, they will not get my vote, nor my consideration for a vote.
