Remember in Friday's Rewrite when we showed you the big lie Sen. Jon Kyl told on the Senate floor about Planned Parenthood? The lie that "well over 90%" of Planned Parenthood's services go to abortions? The lie that Sen. Kyl's staff later said "was not intended to be a factual statement" - a remark Lawrence called "one of the strangest clarifications in Senate history?" Well, we weren't the only ones who took notice. So did Stephen Colbert.

Since last night, Colbert and his followers on Twitter have been having a lot of fun at Sen. Kyl's expense with the hashtag: #NotIntendedToBeAFactualStatement. Here's a few of our favorites so far. See more on tonight's edition of The Last Word with special guest host, Chris Hayes.

I saw the Colbert episode and it was very funny. My 81 year old mother got a good laugh too.
The Kyl statement is basically the ENTIRE gop statement, NOT INTENDED TO BE FACTUAL
I guess that would explain their fiscally responsible bs while they hack on the poor and reward the rich. More like not intended to be sane.
Chris....I LOVED the question to Congressman Walsh whether he thought it was 'fair' that the lower portion of the social pyramid is subjected to sacrifice while the highest 2% of income earners get a tax cut. HE NEVER ANSWERED THE QUESTION! He said we are all in it together...but what are the wealthiest 2% going to give?
Great point, the pols are experts at dodging any question that they KNOW they cant answer
It was not intended to be a factual statement. It was intended to be a lie. You took it as a factual statement? That's your mistake.
actually yes, i expect elected leaders on the house & senate floor to at least try not to lie. i know you think that obama lies constantly, & that drives you nuts yet you excuse kyl for intentionaly trying to decieve folks , which has worked as anytime one of these liars lie fox & the rest of the liars follow suit & we end up with you crazies saying things like hawaii isnt apart of the usa or death panels are in a HEALTHCARE bill
Um, actually, I was being sarcastic. I don't make excuses for lying politicians. Also, I voted for Obama. I guess you have me confused with someone else.
The Republican leaders and their minions at Fox have for the past two years (at least) have approached their political philosophy and standards like 14 year olds. The exponential growth of embarrassing statements like this one added by Jon Kyl has now evolved into outright lies in a vain attempt to undermine the Obama administration. Can anyone really take anybody from the Republican Party seriously? Consistently deflecting any question or argument back on the Democrats does not answer any issue, it avoids it. This is all the Conservatives have as a response.
Such cartoon characters as Michelle Bachmann, Donald Trump, Sarah Palin, and others that seem to represent the current standard of thinking exemplify the ignorant, vile hatred of anything Obama, and are willing to depress not only our way of life, but bring this country to it’s knees in order to revive a Theocratic mindset we as a nation have fought so hard to escape the last 235 years.
Wow, just imagine how dishonest these people were before C-Span, cell phone cameras and the Internet!
I wish these pols could be fired for making intentionally false statements. Maybe then they'd fly straight.
One time, John Kyl took such a big Bong Rip, that he coughed his brains out and Pooped his pants at the same time.
