There are a lot of differing opinions floating around out there in the media about how President Obama is handling the military operation in Libya (aka, the awfully titled Operation: Odyssey Dawn). The latest person to offer some thoughts on this is somewhat surprising: our 30 Rock colleague, Jimmy Fallon.
Last night on Late Night, the host talked with Brian Williams of NBC Nightly News. While talking about the multiple fronts the U.S. Armed Forces are fighting on, Fallon offered - to steal Williams' perfect choice of words - "a little political 'tude."
The video above is part one of the interview. To see the other half, just click here.

Jimmy was too nice to put it very bluntly, but Obama has appeared to be a little insulting and, dare I say it, cowardly in his handling of the announcement.
First Obama leaves town without telling us anything about what he is doing: no live talk from any location about why and what we're doing, not even a video to broadcast on C-SPAN. That goes beyond rude, because our military personnel are putting their lives on the line, and two so far came close to dying in this adventure. And we're left to wonder what and why our friends, family, troops are doing this. We are owed an explanation, a justification, and we get nothing but a question/answer in a news conference in Brazil! WTF!!!
And it's gutless. He leaves the country and lets his underlings do the talking, make the excuses; and they look really uncomfortable doing it. Meanwhile he's off in Latin America, getting back-pats and cheers. WTF again!
Obama needs more than a media consultant, he needs a major gut check. He puts our military in harm's way, and gives us some off-the-cuff press conference soundbites from another continent? This from a man who claims he has compassion for regular people? Cowardly. [Let the flaming begin.]
i am getting more and more amazed at the "bitchiness" of both the repubs and Democrats. Poor President, damned if he does and damned if he don't. I live in a very remote part of Alabama, but there are many people here discussing this situation in Libya and in our own country. Why were we not caught by surprise with the UN sanctions?: I thought it was just a matter of time before we were there...pending the UN and Allies. I guess the Congress et. al. were too busy fighting each othere to pay much attention to what's going on.
Number one: Why involve Congress? No other President has...hello and end of story. Number two: i doubt very seriously our Congress could make a decision due to the fact they're so busy bashing each other, the President, and our people...that decision could take years.
Pres. Obama is within his rights as the President of this country to do this. He is abiding by the UN SWanctions. if the sanctimonious people in Congress want to whine..don't expect many votes from the people. Remember us, the ones who make your money?!
I love Jimmy Fallon. I never miss his show thanks to my crappy DVR from Charter Communications.
I voted for Obama and contributed to his campaign. I'm not pleased that he is engaging the US in Libya. I'm hoping he and his team have reasons and plans that they can't yet share with all of us.
Check this out, Last Word Staff:
SOCIAL JUSTICE IS REPEEATED OFTEN IN THE CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH.
Its on their website.
So what Glenn Beck is saying is,"Run, run as fast as you can." That includes you, Pope Benedict.
Please bring this to his attention. Please!!!
I was pleased the Brian Williams saw through Jimmy Fallon's naivety and called him on it, if only subtly. Presidents must mulit-task, including engaging in American culture.
Jokes are one thing, but to take seriously your forum for something you know nothing about risks putting Jimmy Fallon in the Glenn Beck camp of entertainers.
I've posted before, but someone within this site doesn't like my attitude?! I just have one question; Why is Larry so angry with Glenn Beck? Why does Larry care about what Glenn Beck says? Why doGlenn Beck's ratings kill Larry's? I'm no friend of Glenn Beck, but it's become comical watching Larry get so upset with what Beck says. Either Larry is jealous of Glenn, or he's got a secret crush on him. Just a word of advice to you Larry, quit with the Glenn Beck bashing. Focus on your faltering show. You're not doing yourself any favors with you two hundred listeners every night by continuing your daily rant on Beck. No one cares! You're looking more like a boob every time you question him or even say his name. You're becoming a joke. Let's focus on your ratings first Larry. Hows-about you focus on getting up to half of Beck's viewership before you make another comment about him or against him. He's kicking your ass!
