Scott Walker is the victim of an old-fashioned prank. Buffalo Beast editor Ian Murphy called the Wisconsin Governor on the phone yesterday, posing as conservative billionaire David Koch, a successful businessman and heavy financier of Republican causes.
He then coaxed Walker into a 20-minute chat in which he described his plans to bust state unions. The tape was secretly recorded and posted on the Buffalo Beast’s site.
Journalism ethics aside, how did the governor find time to talk for 20 minutes? There’s a lot going on in the state…
The governor’s press office confirmed it is, in fact, Walker’s voice on the tape.
The “Koch” impersonator told Walker he’s got a “vested interest" in the success of the governor’s efforts and offered to fly him out to California to “show [him] a good time.”
“All right, that would be outstanding,” Walker responded. “Thanks for all your support.”
Murphy also suggested that Walker bring a baseball bat to meetings with Democrats. Walker's reply? "I've got a slugger with my name on it."
Listen to the full audio here. Just a heads up, the clip contains some NSFW language.
Tonight, Lawrence has an exclusive interview with the caller, Ian Murphy. Make sure to tune in at 8 pm ET!

Bloody Brilliant!
This is what Lawrence's guest tonight, Ian Murphy, wrote in 2008. Absolutely pathetic. Lawrence, better vet a little better before you book a guest. After the @ sign put the you know what word. I didn't write it, LO's guest tonight did.

Please, oh puleeeze...can we use this as evidence to appoint a Special Prosecutor to investigate collusion between Koch and Walker on the sale of those power plants?
Understandable, newsvine will not print the obscenity from Murphy's article/html. Go to wikipedia, look up Ian Murphy (writer) and check "References" column. From there you can click to read original "Beast" article. LO, you still have time to book Hanoi Jane for tonight; Murphy makes her look like Gidget.

It will be interesting to see how the governor and his media puppets spin this story. It is clear that the Governor has placed WI up to the highest bidder.
How are the Republicans (those who still support Walker) and the Tea Partiers going to spin this? It is clear the Governor has selling WI and the middle class to the highest bidder.
So Lawrence....do the ends justify the means?
The guy from Buffalo is a disgrace... And for putting him on TV, you are are no better.
What a great learning moment for kids.... Deception is good....... you're an idiot.
The man from Buffalo was RIGHT! First of all I have been saying for years reagopn was an idiot (book "Hold On Mr. Presidnt" ). The sickness that killed reagon has a gestation period on about 10 years. Who was in charge of the White House? Nancy? Oh Boy. As for Walker in Wisconsin - hopefully he'll be recalled.
Will somebody please look into if these union busting tactics by state legislatures are preempted by Federal law. Specifically the National Labor Relations Act of 1935?
Please keep this story alive! It doesn't get any better than this. Are [you} still proud to be a republican?
Why isn't Lawrence talking about what else is in this bill, like the selling of "public" utility plants to the Koch brothers? Union busting pales in comparison. I guess he hasn't read the bill.
Lawrence should interview Andrew Breitbart on the integrity of journalistic behaviour.
Walker said nothing wrong. The unions will not win this fight . Our Pres is extremly weak and indescive. This is the last nail in Obamas re election coffin.
