Also energy independence, but not via dirty fuels and drilling (including natural gas "fracking," which is environmentally disastrous). Invest in clean energy technologies!!!!
Job creation..investment in infrastructure, roads, bridges..tax breaks 2 startup companies 2 help in energy independence..need to get out of Afghan..cost of lives & war straining deficit..money shld be used elsewhere
Exiting Afghanistan and bringing Keith Olbermann back to MSNBC. Please.
Here, here. I love Olbermann. I looked forward to my evenings following Hardball, Countdown, Rachel and Last Word. This really pisses me off. Are MSNBC execs. so damn intimidated by Keith that they found away to get rid of him? I love all those in the nightly roundup, but this really has me upset. I hope that MNBC is not on track to lean more to the RIGHT!
I would love to say the budget. However, the budget hawks want to declare war on salaries, pensions, Federal jobs, Social Security which has nothing to do with the budget, etc. No one even talks about throwing out the income tax system. Until we do that, have people relearn Hamiltonian American system capitalism, as opposed to Friedman's Free Market nightmare, the country is doomed economically.
As usual the "small government" Republicans enlarged government, deficit and spent more billions bailing out their mistake, as they did with the Savings and Loans.
Obama is from Friedman's home turf and a true believer in Friedman. He never has been a socialist or a capitalist. He has always been a Friedmanite and he has not moved to the center. He is what he always has been. Most of the talking heads, just don't get it.
We don't need ATF, FBI, DEA, TSA, or 700 foreign military bases. We CAN simplify this muscle bound system that works against itself. Privatization of government tasks was in the past called graft. We should call it what it is.
Corporations are not more efficient, they are governments too, usually multinational, with no bill of rights, no loyalty to any flag. Limited liability and cannot be held accountable. Government employees can be held accountable. They do go to jail, corporations just go bankrupt and re-open with a new name. Hire the same K street shills to get a better deal. It is out of control.
We need to attend to our human infrastructure and rebuild, re-regulate our financial and transport structure. (We need trains, not cars.) American system capitalism built the strongest country in the world. Staying fixated on the plantation economy, will do as Jefferson Davis said at the end of his plantation society. We will have "died of a theory."
Everything listed in this poll out side of the war in Afganistan is a false option. Afganistan and Iraq, is one of the major causes of large deficits spending in the During the previous administration. If you want to cut the deficit? Then end the war in Afganistan, and being our other troops out of Iraq. The cost of these two wars is over ten years has cost our goverment over a trillion dollars in deficit spending. That could have paid the cost for any of the dreaded, bailout's, stimulus, and healthcare programs. Worst of all we are still charging the credit card on these wastful endeavors.
Second, If you want more job? Re-invest the billions of dollars spent on last sec apporations bill for military expenditures, diplomacy, and changing hearts and minds of the middle east, and invest it in this country. Things like small business grant, middle class tax cuts, and infrastructure spending. These are the true economic engines of this country.
Third,Gun Control? Really? While I like many of you, are remorseful for the families and I wish them all the best. Let's be serious, given the real problems this country faces. Gun control, while very important is not a serious threat to the foundation of our country, and should not rise to the level of the State of the Union? Right?
Finally, If it is Bi-Partisionship you want? Then Bi-Partisionship you will shall have, the moment we vote overwhelmingly third party. Then sit back and watch political elite's of both parties perk up and come to attention. Ask your self one question? What was the true meaning of the 2010 election? The answer is? The TEA PARTY!!!! There rise scared both the Democrats and Republicans. Why? Because orginally they were they were moving towards a possible new center-right third political party, just in time for the 2010 election. So what happen in 2009-2010? They are infitrated by the far right and villified by the Far left, leaving them a marginal party like all those that have come before them.
In Conclusion, All of the other polling option listed are logical options when considering the fact that if you fix one of the option, it will drasticly influence the corresponding options.
Just My Thoughts
Sincerely,
"The Silent Majority In America"
Just a Disclaimer, I am not a Tea party Person, just a silent observer. PS: I apologize for my clerical errors. First ever Bloging.
As much as it pains me (I really don't like working with conservative people), I think we need to work on working together or nothing is going to get done. For this reason I think the President should make bi-partisanship cooperation the focal point of the speach.
All of the choices are important. My second choice would have to be gun control. we have lost 11 law enforcement officers in the last 24 hours. While the NRA uses the 2nd amendment to promote the ownership of guns, they completely ignore the first part of the 2nd amendment which states, "In order to form a well regulated militia" now, if they can somehow prove that the Tucson shooter was somehow a part of a well regulated militia, which I doubt, their whole 2nd amendment right is in jeopardy. I fail to see why people seem to feel the need to own military assault weapons.
If America wants to survive, it has to get out of Afghanistan. If it wants to do it without harming its national pride even more, its better done without leaving a bloody mess. How about starting to seriously talk with Iran?
There is no common grounds on Israel/Palestine or on nuclear research, OK. But a calm Afghanistan, that is not ruled by Sunni Narco-Lords is actually in both nation's interests. Starting the dialogue about something, that both nations can agree on, might be a new way forward.
EVERYBODY loved Bernie Sanders' 8 hr filibuster, which focused on the need to change the narrative. Yet on a very related matter, look at the bottom vote-getter in the above poll. We're all offically pathetic: We have NO IDEA how to get us all collectively out of this giant hole we've dug for ourselves as a nation of people over the past 30 years.
Connect the dots. They all lead back to us.
