The long-awaited Pentagon study on gays in the military was just released to public moments ago. It determined... drumroll please... that over-turning DADT won’t cause any big issues. The study found 70 percent of armed service members say there would be positive, mixed, or no results from a repeal to the Don't Ask Don't Tell law. It also said the repeal can be implanted, even in a time of war.
Republican holdout Senator John McCain is expected to lead the opposition to a repeal.
Please tell us your thoughts on the study in the comment section below.

There is no excuse for any further delay. The DADT policy is the direct result of Bill Clinton attempting to pull a Harry Truman and, rather than having Harry's backbone - Bill created this stupid policy. What a load of dingoe's kidneys!
I think John Mc Cain is a LIER and a HOMOPHOBE
I'm sorry Lawrence but that's how I feel.
this was never about a study. DADT will never be repealled while Republicans perceive it as a political victory for the Obama administration. It may have overwhelming support, bit when has that EVER been a factor in Washington politics. Plus since Republicans support a ban on gay marriage, it would be political cannon fodder to grant them equal rights in the military. The same people who see Gay Marriage as either an attack on religious or "family values" can just as easily see DADT in the same way. And let us not forget, there's another primary in 2012.
A sad reality for an elected body...
I optimistically hope you are incorrect. There may be a handful of moderate Republicans who personally support the repeal and will vote for it. They are the ones who must count on a broader base support in 2012, for it has become clear the right has little interest in representing the moderate viewpoint of America. Here's to being hopeful:

I'm a retired USAF member and agree it is time to repeal the ridiculous "don't ask, don't tell"policy. I served with many dedicated military professionals, some of which I thought were gay...I didn't care then and I don't care now what anyone's sexual preference is. I only cared about how they performed their job and treated others. With good leadership, both enlisted and officers, there should be few problems once it is repealed. I do believe it is a Civil Rights Issue, just as women and blacks serving in the military were Civil Rights issues.
i'm straight and a huge fan of dan choi. awesome activist. i think that's your calling, maybe politics. run for congress! maybe you should give up this military nonsense and become an advocate for the disenfranchised. or when this dadt stupidity finally gets repealed you could get involved with many other civil rights fights this country is sliding backwards on. you've got the name recognition and probably could really help out a lot of great people. just a thought. keep up the great work dan.
We can give passes to convicted rapists, but not
allow non-violent gay and lesbian citizens serve
openly?
I know, there aren't a bunch of convicted rapists
who get waivers to enlist, but it does happen.
